NCP leader permanently expelled over illegal sex stimulant production

Md Bayezid Hossain Shahed, Senior Joint Convener of the National Citizen Party's (NCP) Faridpur district committee, who was sentenced by a mobile court on charges of illegally manufacturing medicines and storing expired medicines, has been permanently expelled from the party. He was relieved of all party posts and responsibilities, including primary membership, by a decision of the central committee on Thursday, September 24. The matter was also confirmed by multiple media outlets.

Bayezid Hossain is a resident of Alfadanga upazila in Faridpur. He currently lives with his family in the Goalchamot area of Faridpur town.

On Tuesday evening, September 22, the district administration conducted a raid on 'M/s Janata Laboratories', a factory owned by Bayezid Hossain, in the Goalchamot Mollabari Road area. During the raid, various unauthorised medicines and materials were recovered, including unauthorised and expired baby jelly for children and sex stimulant medicines for adults.

The raid was conducted under the leadership of Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner Insana Tanjin Iko of the Faridpur Deputy Commissioner's office. A mobile court sentenced Bayezid Hossain to six months' simple imprisonment and a fine of Tk 10,000 for violating Section 6(1) of the Essential Commodities Control Act, 1956. He was later sent to Faridpur District Jail.

According to mobile court sources, the factory had been operating without approval since September 2022. Baby jelly for children, various sex stimulant medicines and various ayurvedic medicines were manufactured there.

After news of the sentence was published, the NCP central committee took organisational action. In a notice signed by Sadia Farzana Dina, a member of the office cell, on the instructions of the party's central committee convener Md Nahid Islam and member secretary Akhtar Hossain, Bayezid Hossain's permanent expulsion was announced.

The notice stated that Bayezid Hossain has been permanently expelled, effective immediately, as per the constitution, after specific allegations of involvement in activities seriously contrary to organisational discipline and activities against the organisation's policies and ideals were proven.

Earlier, Faridpur district NCP member secretary Saif Hasan Khan had said the party has no compromise with wrongdoing, and the matter was reported to the central committee for investigation and organisational action.
