NCP leader Tarek Reza gets bail day after arrest
Tarek Reza, central joint member secretary of the National Citizen Party, has been released on bail a day after his arrest in a case filed by a former Chhatra Dal leader in Jhenaidah.
He was released from jail on Monday morning, May 25. He was arrested on Sunday, May 24, in a case filed by Enamul Kabir, former vice-president of Jhenaidah district Chhatra Dal.
A team from Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station arrested him from in front of the Family Zone auditorium adjacent to the stadium around 6:30 pm on Sunday. Tarek Reza had called an emergency press conference at the auditorium that evening and was detained upon arrival.
Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station OC Asaduzzaman, plainclothes police and intelligence agency members were present during the arrest. He was sent to jail on Sunday night following court orders.
The OC said a case was filed at Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station on Saturday, May 23, against Tarek Reza and several others over allegations of assault, vandalism and death threats. Tarek Reza was arrested as an accused in that case. Police operations are ongoing to arrest other accused.
