NCP leader thrashed by woman in Bogura

A leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP) named Ali Azam Sabbir was thrashed by a woman in Bogura on charges of harassing female trainees.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. In the video, a woman is seen thrashing Sabbir with a shoe. At that time, he (Sabbir) apologizes for his behavior. He also gave a bond that he will not do such a thing in the future.

It is learned that the incident took place in a room of the Bogura Technical Training Center (TTC) on May 24. Sabbir is a trainee there.

According to party sources, Sabbir was the coordinating member of the NCP's coordination team for Shibganj upazila in Bogura.

A letter signed by District NCP Organizing Secretary Shawkat Imran said that he has been temporarily suspended from the party until the incident is resolved. At the same time, he has been given a show cause notice (Shokaz). He has been asked to respond to the incident within three days.

Till the time of writing this report, NCP leader Sabbir could not be reached despite contacting him.

When asked about this, TTC Principal Engineer S.M. Imdadul Haque told Views Bangladesh, Sabbir was accused of harassing some female trainees. A teacher and some trainees complained to me about this. I have assigned a teacher to look into the matter.

He also said that while the incident was being resolved, a girl insulted Sabbir. Sabbir also gave a bond that day.

The principal also said that Sabbir will be permanently expelled from the institution after the Eid vacation.
