The National Citizen Party (NCP) held a rally on Monday (November 17) in Dhaka demanding the swift execution of the death sentence against Sheikh Hasina, convicted of crimes against humanity, and calling for legal action against the Awami League as a party.

The rally began at 6:30pm from the party’s temporary central office in Banglamotor and moved through surrounding roads.

Addressing the gathering, NCP chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary criticised the government for “protecting those who fired on protesters” and urged India to return Sheikh Hasina.

"The party’s movement would continue until the verdict is carried out," he said.

He called for political unity ahead of the upcoming national election, urging people to vote only for parties committed to reforms and accountability.

Patwary warned that the Awami League “will face political consequences through the ballot” and criticised certain intellectuals and teachers for “provoking unrest.”
