NCP vows to implement July Declaration amid all challenges
The National Citizen Party (NCP) has pledged to overcome any obstacle in implementing the July Declaration, a political manifesto central to the party’s reform agenda.
Speaking at a national meeting of Jatiyo Jubo Shokti, the NCP’s youth wing, party convener Nahid Islam said no force—regardless of its power—would be allowed to stand in the way of the declaration’s goals.
“The July uprising is the foundation of our politics and identity. The more we embrace its ideals, the further we will move forward,” said Nahid during the event held at a Dhaka hotel.
He criticized those who, according to him, are misinterpreting the movement as a mere regime change rather than a call for systemic reform.
“Some groups are clinging to the old constitution to regain power. We, in contrast, have always advocated for fundamental reform,” he added.
Addressing recent national developments, Nahid warned against efforts to destabilize the country and urged the youth to remain united and vigilant.
“The youth must rise to implement the demands of the July Declaration. We must deliver it as a tribute to the martyrs and the injured,” he said.
He further emphasized the need to build a patriotic, value-driven generation of youth prepared to fight for a new republic.
Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari outlined the youth wing’s strategy, stressing inclusivity and national development.
“Without participation from all sectors, Jatiyo Jubo Shokti cannot succeed. Women and scholars must be included. Employment and entrepreneurship opportunities—both domestic and abroad—must be expanded,” he said.
Southern Region Coordinator Hasnat Abdullah echoed calls for deep reform, urging the drafting of a new constitution.
“We must abandon the outdated constitution and work collectively toward a new one. Politics should welcome capable and deserving individuals,” he said.
Other key figures in attendance included Advocate Tarikul Islam, Dr. Zahedul Islam, Engineer Farhad Sohel, and leaders from the central committee of Jatiyo Jubo Shokti.
