NCP’s ‘July March to Build the Nation’ begins

To mark the anniversary of the July mass uprising, the National Citizens Party (NCP) began a month-long march programme. This program, called the ‘July March to Build the Nation,’ began on Tuesday (July 1), with a visit to the grave of martyr Abu Sayed in Rangpur. To participate, central leaders including NCP convener Nahid Islam have already departed from Dhaka to Rangpur at midnight on June 30.

Among those attending the grave visit in the morning will be Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Chief Organizer of the South Region Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Organizer of the North Region Sarjis Alam, Joint Chief Organizer Abu Saeed Leon, and local leaders and activists. The march will continue until July 29, and they will return to Dhaka the following day, July 30.

According to an NCP press release, each division will have a convener for the July March to Build the Nation. These include Dr. Atiqur Rahman in Rangpur, Monira Sharmin in Rajshahi, Molla Rahmatullah in Khulna, Faisal Mahmud Shanto in Barishal, Zubairul Hasan Arif in Chattogram-1, Navid Nawroj Shah in Chattogram-2, Ehteshamul Haque in Sylhet, Niyaz Mehrab Talukder in Mymensingh, Abdur Rahman in Dhaka-1, and Azad Sobhan Al Vashani in Dhaka-2.

During this period, leaders will visit the families of martyrs and the injured in various districts and check on their well-being. There will be no major program in Dhaka during this time.

On the first day (July 1), at 9 a.m., activists of NCP visited and paid tribute to the grave of martyr Abu Sayed in Pirganj, Rangpur. At 11 a.m., a march started from Sadullapur in Gaibandha. The march’s subsequent rally will be held at Gaibandha Shaheed Minar.

In Rangpur, the rally and march will start at 3 p.m. The route includes Park Mor, Lalbagh, Shapla, Jahaj Company Mor, Town Hall (rally), DC Mor, Dhap, Medical Mor, Checkpost (closing remarks). At 7 p.m., there will be a rally in Pirgachha.

NCP has already announced that July 16, the martyrdom day of Abu Saeed, will be observed as the Anti-Discrimination Martyrs’ Day. There will be Milad (prayer) and doa mahfil in memory of Abu Saeed and other martyrs.

On August 3, the July Declaration and Manifesto Day will be observed. Since the government has failed to fulfill its promises, the July Declaration and Manifesto will be read at the central Shaheed Minar on August 3.

On August 5, the day of liberation from autocracy, the Student-People Liberation Day will be celebrated with various programs nationwide.

The central convener of this month-long program is Sarjis Alam, NCP’s Chief Organizer of the Northern Region, and the Member Secretary is Joint Convener Anik Roy.
