Motaleb Shikdar, Khulna divisional chief of the National Citizen Party (NCP) and central organiser of its affiliated body Jatiya Shramik Shakti, who was shot earlier Monday, is now out of danger, doctors confirmed. Dr. Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman, in charge of Khulna Medical College Hospital, told reporters that Motaleb was shot on the left side of his head and received initial treatment in the Khulna Medical College Hospital's surgery ward. Sondanga Model Police Station officer-in-charge Animesh Mondol said the incident occurred around noon in Sonadanga area of Khulna, where assailants targeted his head. Motaleb was rushed to the hospital in serious condition. An investigation into the attack is underway.

এনসিপির সহযোগী সংগঠন জাতীয় শ্রমিক শক্তির খুলনা বিভাগীয় প্রধান মোতালেব শিকদার আশঙ্কামুক্ত বলে জানিয়েছেন চিকিৎসক। খুলনা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালের তত্ত্বাবধায়ক মোহাম্মদ আখতারুজ্জামান সোমবার দুপুরে সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, ‘মোতালেব এখন আশঙ্কামুক্ত। তার মাথার বাম পাশে গুলি লেগেছে। হাসপাতালের সার্জারি ওয়ার্ডের ড্রেসিং রুমে তার প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসা হয়েছে।’ দুপুরে ১২টার দিকে নগরের সোনাডাঙ্গা এলাকায় মোতালেবের মাথা লক্ষ্য করে গুলি ছোড়া হয় বলে জানান সোনাডাঙ্গা থানার পরিদর্শক (তদন্ত) অনিমেষ মণ্ডল। পরে গুরুতর আহত অবস্থায় তাকে খুলনা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে।
