The National Citizen Party (NCP) Khulna divisional chief and central organiser of its Workers’ Wing Motaleb Shikdar was shot by assailants around 11:45am on Monday (December 22). The bullet struck his head, leaving him in critical condition. Bystanders immediately rushed Shikdar to Khulna Medical College Hospital. On the advice of doctors, he was later taken to Sheikhpara City Imaging Centre for a CT scan. Sondanga Model Police Station officer-in-charge Animesh Mondol confirmed that the police arrived at the scene promptly and have begun an investigation. Authorities are working to determine the motive behind the attack and to identify the assailants.

জাতীয় নাগরিক পার্টির (এনসিপি) খুলনা বিভাগীয় প্রধান এবং এনসিপি শ্রমিক শক্তির কেন্দ্রীয় সংগঠক মোতালেব শিকদারকে গুলি করেছে দুর্বৃত্তরা। সোমবার (২২ ডিসেম্বর) বেলা ১১টা ৪৫ মিনিটের দিকে তার মাথা লক্ষ্য করে গুলি করে দুর্বৃত্তরা। গুরুতর আহত অবস্থায় তাকে খুলনা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে। সোনাডাঙ্গা মডেল থানার তদন্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) অনিমেষ মণ্ডল বলেন, ‘মোতালেব নামে এক ব্যক্তিকে দুর্বৃত্তরা গুলি করলে উপস্থিত জনতা তাকে উদ্ধার করে প্রথমে খুলনা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যায়। পরে চিকিৎসকদের পরামর্শে তার মাথার সিটি স্ক্যানের জন্য শেখপাড়া সিটি ইমেজিং সেন্টারে নেওয়া হয়।’ তিনি আরও বলেন, ‘ঘটনার পরপরই পুলিশ ঘটনাস্থলে গিয়ে তদন্ত শুরু করেছে। হামলার কারণ ও জড়িতদের শনাক্তে কাজ চলছে।’
