Nearly 5 million families to receive family cards within a year: PM
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has announced that the government aims to distribute family cards to nearly five million households across Bangladesh within the next year.
Speaking at a BNP-organised roadside rally at Mudaffarganj Bazar in Laksam of Cumilla on Saturday afternoon (May 16), Tarique Rahman said the government is committed to fulfilling every promise made to the people before the election.
“We promised family cards before the election, and the distribution process has already begun. A significant allocation for this programme has been included in the upcoming national budget,” he said.
The prime minister added that the initiative would gradually expand across the country, expressing confidence that around five million families would receive the cards within a year.
Addressing party leaders, activists, and local residents, Tarique Rahman urged them to strengthen the hands of the BNP, saying the party would implement its planned development agenda step by step and work toward building the “expected Bangladesh” envisioned by the people.
The rally was chaired by Md. Abul Kalam, Member of Parliament for Cumilla-9, and was attended by local BNP leaders and activists from Laksam and Monohorganj.
