Nearly 50,000 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims reach Saudi Arabia, 1 more dies
A total of 49,103 Bangladeshi pilgrims have reached Saudi Arabia so far for Hajj 2025, according to the Hajj Portal of the Ministry of Religion.
Among them, one more death has been reported, raising the total number of Bangladeshi pilgrim deaths to seven this year.
The deceased was identifeid as Md Joynal Hossain, 60, a resident of Gazipur Sadar. He was in Saudi Arabia under private management and died in Medina on Saturday, confirmed in the ministry’s daily bulletin released on Sunday (May 18).
So far, 124 flights have carried pilgrims from Bangladesh. Of these, Biman Bangladesh Airlines operated 62 flights, Saudi Airlines 42, and Flynas Airlines 16.
A total of 87,100 people from Bangladesh are scheduled to perform Hajj this year, with 5,200 under government management and 81,900 under private management.
Hajj flights began on April 29 and will continue until May 31. Return flights are scheduled from June 10 to July 10.
The holy Hajj is expected to take place on June 5, depending on the sighting of the moon.
