Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina said that necessary measures will be taken to tackle the price hike of daily commodities.She said this at the joint meeting held at the party's central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on Monday (January 15) afternoon. Sheikh Hasina was presiding over the meeting.The Prime Minister said: "After Awami League came to power, at least we can claim that the image of the country has changed. Now nobody can think of it as a country of famine and beggars. Bangladesh is now a role model for development."She said that there were many plots and conspiracies to prevent the election. "But, we arranged the poll overcoming the challenges."

প্রধানমন্ত্রী ও আওয়ামী লীগ সভাপ‌তি শেখ হা‌সিনা বলেছেন, নিত্যপ্র‌য়োজনীয় জি‌নিসপ‌ত্রের মূল্যবৃদ্ধির রাশ টে‌নে ধর‌তে প্র‌য়োজনীয় ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে। সোমবার (১৫ জানুয়ারি) বিকেলে রাজধানীর বঙ্গবন্ধু অ্যাভিনিউয়ে দলের কেন্দ্রীয় কার্যালয়ে অনুষ্ঠিত যৌথসভায় এ কথা জানান তিনি। সভায় সভাপতিত্ব করছেন শেখ হাসিনা। সরকারপ্রধান বলেন, আওয়ামী লীগ ক্ষমতায় আসার পর অন্তত এটুকু দা‌বি কর‌তে পা‌রি, দে‌শের ভাবমূ‌র্তি প‌রিবর্তন হ‌য়ে‌ছে। এখন দু‌র্ভিক্ষ আর ভিখারির দে‌শ হি‌সে‌বে কেউ ম‌নে কর‌তে পা‌রে না। বাংলা‌দেশ এখন উন্নয়নের রোল ম‌ডেল। তিনি বলেন, ‌নির্বাচন যাতে না হয় অনেক চক্রান্ত, ষড়যন্ত্র ছি‌লে। এসব অতিক্রম ক‌রে নির্বাচন কর‌তে হ‌য়ে‌ছে।
