New DCs appointed in four more districts
The government has withdrawn the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of four more districts and appointed new ones in their place. With this, a total of 20 DCs have been transferred in three phases over the past month.
The four districts where DCs were withdrawn on Wednesday, April 1, are Pabna, Thakurgaon, Rangpur and Rajbari. The outgoing DCs have been attached to the Ministry of Public Administration for further posting.
Among the newly appointed, Afroza Parveen, Director (Deputy Secretary) of the Public Procurement Authority, has been posted as DC of Rajbari. Additionally, Deputy Secretary Mohammad Rafiqul Haque of the Ministry of Public Administration has been posted as DC of Thakurgaon, Aminul Islam as DC of Pabna, and Mohammad Ruhul Amin, Secretary (Deputy Secretary) of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, has been posted as DC of Rangpur.
Sources said ongoing administrative changes are being made at various levels, particularly in public administration, following the national election. The reshuffle at the district administration level is part of this process. Discussions at the Secretariat suggest further changes may come in other districts.
Earlier on March 1, DCs of Gazipur, Panchagarh, Kushtia, Netrokona and Chapainawabganj were withdrawn, and new appointments were made on March 15. Later on March 29, DCs of Rajshahi, Khulna, Chuadanga, Madaripur, Brahmanbaria, Chandpur, Meherpur, Lalmonirhat, Habiganj, Narsingdi and Bandarban were also transferred.
It is noteworthy that some of the withdrawn DCs had been appointed just months before the schedule for the 13th National Parliamentary Election was announced.
