New monetary policy to be announced Wednesday

Bangladesh Bank's new Monetary Policy Statement (MPS) will be announced tomorrow, Wednesday. The bank has arranged a press conference to announce this monetary policy for the October-December period of the current year.

The information was conveyed in a notice sent to the media by Bangladesh Bank's Department of Communications and Publications on Tuesday, September 29.

The press conference will be held at the Jahangir Alam Conference Hall on the fifth floor of the main building of Bangladesh Bank's head office at 3pm tomorrow. Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Md Habibur Rahman will be present as chief guest.

Other Deputy Governors of Bangladesh Bank, the Chief Officer of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), the Executive Director of the Research Department, Bangladesh Bank's spokesperson and assistant spokesperson, and officials of the relevant departments will be present at the press conference.

The new monetary policy may highlight the central bank's position and course of action on controlling inflation, credit flow to the private sector, investment and the overall state of the economy. Currently, along with controlling inflation, overcoming the stagnation in private investment has also become one of the biggest challenges for the economy.
