New primary education policy to be finalised within a month: Bobby Hajjaj
A new policy framework for primary education is expected to be finalised within a month to strengthen oversight, improve accountability and ensure more effective management of educational activities, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj said on Sunday (August 23).
He made the remarks at a day-long training workshop titled "Reforming Classroom Activities, Monitoring, Accountability and Administrative Structure of Bangladesh Primary Education" at the Shilpakala Academy in Barishal city.
The state minister said officials and employees of the primary education sector would perform their duties under the new framework once it comes into effect. Administrative and academic activities at government primary schools across the country would also be conducted in line with the new policy.
"We will formulate the new policy within a month. The responsibilities and activities of officials and employees will be carried out based on this framework. The broader primary education system, including government primary schools, will also come under the new structure," he said.
Highlighting the government's plans to improve the quality of primary education, Hajjaj said primary education forms the foundation for building an educated Bangladesh.
He said efforts were underway to ensure that the commitments made in the election manifesto were implemented and became visible within a short time.
The state minister also stressed the role of teachers, officials and employees in achieving the government's vision of a developed and educated Bangladesh, urging them to perform their responsibilities with greater commitment to ensure quality education for students.
Officials and employees from different levels of the primary education sector attended the day-long workshop, where participants received training and discussed classroom teaching, monitoring of academic activities, accountability and reforms to the administrative structure of primary education.
