Police have recovered a dead body of a newborn from the road in front of the main entrance to Jagannath Hall at Dhaka University. The body was discovered by Shahbagh Police around 3:30 PM on Saturday. The newborn's body has been sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College for autopsy. Sub-Inspector (SI) Mahmud Hasan of Shahbagh Police confirmed the information to the media. Mahmud Hasan stated that after receiving a call through the national emergency service 999, the police recovered the newborn's body from a location on the road in front of Jagannath Hall. The body was found inside a medicine carton. SI Mahmud Hasan further mentioned that to uncover the mystery of the newborn’s death, footage from nearby CCTV cameras will be collected and reviewed.

ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের (ঢাবি) জগন্নাথ হলে প্রবেশের প্রধান ফটকের সামনের সড়ক থেকে এক নবজাতকের মরদেহ উদ্ধার করেছে পুলিশ। শনিবার (৩০ নভেম্বর) সাড়ে তিনটার দিকে মরদেহটি উদ্ধার করে শাহবাগ থানা-পুলিশ। ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য মরদেহ ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজের মর্গে রাখা হয়েছে। শাহবাগ থানার উপপরিদর্শক (এসআই) মাহমুদ হাসান গণমাধ্যমে এ তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেছেন। তিনি বলেন, জাতীয় জরুরি সেবা ৯৯৯–এ ফোন পেয়ে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের জগন্নাথ হলের সামনের সড়কের একটি স্থান থেকে নবজাতকের মরদেহ উদ্ধার করা হয়। মরদেহটি একটি ওষুধের কার্টনের ভেতর রাখা ছিল। তিনি আরও বলেন, নবজাতকের মৃত্যুর রহস্য উদ্‌ঘাটনের জন্য ঘটনাস্থলের আশপাশের এলাকার সিসিটিভি ক্যামেরার ফুটেজ সংগ্রহ করে তা পর্যালোচনা করা হবে।
