Nilkhet ballot paper incident cannot be covered up: Abidul
Two days ahead of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election, VP candidate Abidul Islam Khan, backed by the Chhatra Dal, has alleged that a large number of ballot papers were left unsecured. He claimed that despite filing complaints, the university administration took no action and did not respond.
Abidul shared his concerns in a verified Facebook post on Wednesday (24 September), stating: “The Nilkhet ballot paper incident cannot be covered up. The truth will be revealed. Ensuring transparency is our responsibility. Everything will become clear very soon, Insha’Allah. Do not be misled by falsehoods.”
Earlier, on Tuesday, several VP candidates, including Abidul, Umama Fatema, and Abdul Qader, visited the Vice-Chancellor’s office to formally lodge complaints regarding the election process.
The DUCSU election was held on 9 September. On election day, candidates from multiple panels, including the Chhatra Dal, raised allegations of irregularities. On Tuesday afternoon, representatives from three panels, including VP candidates Abidul Islam Khan, Umama Fatema, and Abdul Qader, approached the Vice-Chancellor’s office to submit their complaints.
