Nine more children die with measles symptoms, 1,105 new cases detected
Nine children have died in the past 24 hours with symptoms of measles across the country, while 1,105 new suspected cases have been detected during the same period, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said on Tuesday (April 14).
In a press release, the health authority confirmed that 176 new measles cases were identified within the last 24 hours. Since March 15, a total of 2,897 confirmed measles cases have been reported nationwide.
According to DGHS data, 11,652 patients have so far been admitted with suspected measles symptoms during the ongoing outbreak.
On Monday, seven children died with measles symptoms, including two confirmed measles-related deaths, while five others were reported to have died with suspected symptoms, the statement added.
Health officials said surveillance and response measures have been intensified as authorities continue to monitor the spread of the disease across different regions.
