No AL collaborators involved in election duties: Home Adviser
Home adviser Lieutenant General, retired, Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said there are no Awami League collaborators involved in election duties.
He said those engaged in the election process include no Awami League collaborators, adding that everyone is prepared for the election and all are capable and honest officials.
The home adviser made the remarks while responding to a question from journalists in Sylhet on Wednesday afternoon, January 28.
Earlier in the day, he attended a law and order coordination meeting at the PTI auditorium in the city, aimed at ensuring the smooth conduct of the 13th national parliamentary election and the referendum. The meeting was chaired by senior home secretary Nasimul Gani, with Inspector General of Police Baharul Alam and Sylhet divisional commissioner Khan Md Reza-un-Nabi present as special guests.
After the meeting, the home adviser said election preparations in Sylhet were extremely satisfactory, exceeding expectations. He said each polling centre will have the Suraksha app and CCTV cameras, while some centres will also have drones, body cameras and dog squads deployed.
In response to a question regarding government officials being seen campaigning for or against the referendum despite a statement by an election commissioner, the home adviser said he would not comment as he had not heard the commissioner’s remarks.
Senior police officials from Sylhet Metropolitan Police, range and district units, along with officials from various departments, were present at the meeting.
