Election Commissioner (EC) Anwarul Islam Sarkar said, we had sent a proposal to demarcate the boundaries to the cabinet. The cabinet held a meeting on this issue. But we have not yet received approval from the cabinet. If the cabinet does not approve, the elections will be held under the existing law.

He told reporters at the Election Building in Agargaon in the capital on Monday (April 7).

EC Anwarul Islam said, today we sat down to draft the code of conduct. It is almost finalized. We will place it in the commission after finalizing it. After that, the commission will finalize it. We will include local government elections and new issues in the proposal given by the Reform Commission. I hope it will be an excellent code of conduct.

He said, keeping the election expenses to a minimum and ensuring that discipline is not disturbed, campaigning can be done on a completely level playing field at the rural level. I want to do it with that kind of attitude. In this case, the RPO will be amended wherever it needs to be amended.

When asked if he does not want to put up posters, he said, the proposal of the Reform Commission is like this. I think that proposal is good. There is also the issue of spreading on social media. We are also thinking about ways to control rumors. We will strengthen the tools that we have for maximum strictness. There are thoughts on increasing the fines of 200 taka and 500 taka. There is a penal code beyond the code of conduct.

To another question, Anwarul Islam Sarkar said that the notification for party registration has filed a writ called the state reform movement. This will only apply to them. Two or three parties have applied. Now if many parties apply by April 20, it will be the same. However, on the 20th, it will be understood whether the time will be extended or not. One party has applied. We believe that several parties are ready to apply by April 20. Applications will have to be made according to the current law. For this, we will also sit with the stakeholders.
