National Citizen Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam has declared that there is no possibility of allowing the Awami League to participate in upcoming elections.

Speaking at an emergency press conference held at the party’s temporary office on Tuesday afternoon, Nahid condemned the recent attack on the party’s member secretary Akhtar Hossain in New York and expressed strong opposition to any attempts to rehabilitate the ruling party politically.

“If the BNP adopts the politics of rehabilitating the Awami League, it will be disastrous for the party,” Nahid warned. “Instead of reviving the Awami League, BNP should focus on rebuilding Bangladesh. Only then will it earn the support of the youth.”

Nahid further criticized the Awami League’s ongoing activities, accusing the party of plotting conspiracies and engaging in terrorist acts. He also warned against any domestic politicians conspiring to reinstate the Awami League in the election process.

“We want to make it clear that there is no chance for the Awami League to return to elections or to be politically rehabilitated,” he said. “The people will stand firmly against those attempting to do so, and such politics will disappear from Bangladesh.”

Referring to the popular uprising of July 36 (likely a typographical error, meant July 30) and August 5, Nahid said the students and people of Bangladesh had delivered a clear verdict against the Awami League and its ideology, Mujibism. “They must be held accountable for their misdeeds,” he added.

Nahid concluded by urging all political parties opposed to fascism to unite on the Awami League issue and work collectively to prevent any conspiracy aimed at destabilizing the country or rehabilitating the ruling party.
