No democratic environment without boat symbol: Mirza Fakhrul
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the absence of the boat symbol has left the political landscape without even a minimum democratic environment.
“Earlier, there were the boat and the sheaf of paddy. This time, there is no boat. The helmsman of the boat, former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, has left you behind and fled to India. She is sitting in Delhi and has abandoned the people. If the boat were present, at least some democratic order would have prevailed,” he said.
Mirza Fakhrul made the remarks on Monday, January 26, during election campaigning at the BD High School ground in Begunbari Union under the Thakurgaon-1 constituency.
He further said that those who had assisted the Pakistani army and were responsible for the killing of thousands of people are now returning to seek votes. “Do not destroy the country by voting for a party that does not believe in Bangladesh or its independence,” he urged.
Thakurgaon Sadar upazila BNP president Abdul Hamid and other party leaders and activists were present at the event.
