No GD required to replace lost NID: EC
Citizens will no longer need to file a General Diary (GD) to replace a lost National Identity Card (NID), the Election Commission (EC) has announced.
The EC’s National Identity Registration Division Director General, ASM Humayun Kabir, confirmed the decision on Thursday (September 4), saying it was aimed at easing public suffering.
He added that further steps are being planned to simplify NID-related services.
Over the past year, the EC has cleared nearly 950,000 pending NID correction applications.
According to the updated voter list, Bangladesh now has 126.37 million registered voters, including 64.14 million men, 62.21 million women, and 1,230 Hijra voters.
