No govt restrictions on Tarique Rahman’s return: Press secretary

There are no government restrictions or objections regarding the return of Tarique Rahman to Bangladesh, chief adviser’s press secretary Shafiqul Alam has said.

He made the remark in a post on his verified Facebook page around 5pm on Saturday, November 29.

In the post, Shafiqul Alam wrote, “Referring to Mr Tarique Rahman’s statement today that the opportunity to immediately decide on returning home is not open and solely under his control, the chief adviser’s press secretary Mr Shafiqul Alam was asked whether there are any government restrictions on his return to Bangladesh.”

Responding to that query, the press secretary wrote, “There are no restrictions or any kind of objection from the government in this regard.”

He further noted that chief adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has already expressed deep concern about Begum Khaleda Zia’s health and has asked the nation to pray for her.
