No immediate chance of lifting ban on AL activities: Law Adviser

Law Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul has ruled out any immediate possibility of lifting the ban on Awami League’s activities.

Speaking to reporters after visiting a Durga Puja pavilion in Barisal on Wednesday afternoon, Dr. Nazrul said, “When a party’s activities are banned, questions arise as to whether the ban is temporary or permanent. In the case of the Awami League, I see no possibility of the restriction being lifted.”

Referring to a recent interview of the Chief Adviser published in foreign media, he added that the national election will be held in the first half of February.

Commenting on the situation in the hill tracts, the law adviser warned that the government will take stern action against those who attempt to create unrest.

During his visit, Dr. Nazrul also met with local community leaders and exchanged greetings.
