Long-distance bus services from Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, and Natore remain suspended for the second consecutive day due to a transport owners’ strike, following a recent dispute between bus owners and workers over wage increases. Since Saturday morning, no buses have departed for Dhaka, Chattogram, or other major destinations, causing severe inconvenience to passengers. Many travelers have been forced to take alternative transport at higher costs. Although a meeting between owners and workers in Dhaka on September 23 agreed to implement the revised wages from September 25, bus owners reportedly refused to comply. In response, owners abruptly announced the suspension of services on Thursday night.

বাস মালিকদের ডাকা ধর্মঘটের কারণে দ্বিতীয় দিনের মতো বন্ধ রয়েছে রাজশাহী, চাঁপাইনবাবগঞ্জ ও নাটোর থেকে দূরপাল্লার বাস চলাচল। শনিবার (২৭ সেপ্টেম্বর) সকাল থেকে এসব জেলা থেকে ঢাকা, চট্টগ্রামসহ বিভিন্ন রুটে কোনো দূরপাল্লার বাস ছেড়ে যায়নি। ফলে সাধারণ যাত্রীরা চরম ভোগান্তিতে পড়েছেন। অনেকে বাধ্য হয়ে ভেঙে ভেঙে গন্তব্যে যাচ্ছেন এবং দিতে হচ্ছে বাড়তি ভাড়া। জানা গেছে, সম্প্রতি বেতন বৃদ্ধির দাবিতে ধর্মঘট পালন করেন পরিবহন শ্রমিকরা। পরে গত ২৩ সেপ্টেম্বর ঢাকায় মালিক ও শ্রমিকদের বৈঠকে বেতন বৃদ্ধির সিদ্ধান্ত হয় এবং ২৫ সেপ্টেম্বর থেকে তা কার্যকর করার কথা ছিল। কিন্তু মালিকরা নির্ধারিত বেতন দিতে অস্বীকৃতি জানান। এর পরপরই মালিকপক্ষ হঠাৎ করে বৃহস্পতিবার রাতে বাস বন্ধের ঘোষণা দেয়।
