Bangladesh recorded a continuous 48-hour period without load shedding across the country, the Power Division claimed, citing improved electricity supply conditions.

In a statement issued on Thursday (April 30), the Power Division said there was no scheduled or unscheduled load shedding on April 28 and 29, marking two consecutive days of uninterrupted power supply nationwide.

The development comes as officials have recently expressed optimism over the country’s electricity situation.

On April 27, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said the power situation would improve further in the coming week, with load shedding expected to decline significantly.

Earlier, on April 23, Power Division Joint Secretary Umme Rehana said fuel supply constraints had temporarily affected electricity generation. She noted that disruptions in fuel imports due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East had impacted generation capacity, leading to load management measures between urban and rural areas.

Authorities had previously warned that fuel shortages were limiting electricity production to match demand, prompting controlled distribution of power in different regions.

The Power Division said the recent stability reflects improved supply coordination, though officials did not rule out further adjustments depending on fuel availability and demand conditions.
