No one can suppress the youth: Yunus

Chief Adviser of the Interim Government Dr. Muhammad Yunus on Monday declared that no force can suppress a nation's youth when they are active and united.

“No barrier can hold back a country whose youth are engaged and determined,” he said while addressing the Youth Volunteer Award 2025 ceremony at the Chief Adviser’s Office in Tejgaon.

The event honored 12 young individuals from across the country for their exceptional contributions in five key areas: youth development, education and technology, patriotism and courage, social welfare, and culture.

Each awardee received Tk 1 lakh or a prize bond, along with a crest and a certificate.

The recipients are, Youth Development & Employment, Suraiya Farhana Reshma (Bogura), Md. Akkach Khan (Magura), Md. Zakir Hossain (Noakhali), Education, Science & Technology, Md. Khaled Saifullah (Jhalokathi), Md. Shahadat Hossain (Gaibandha)

Patriotism, Bravery & Courage: Md. Deep Mahbub (Pabna), Hasan Sheikh (Rajshahi), Social Welfare & Elderly Care, Md. Jamal Hossain (Lalmonirhat), Nurul Absar (Cox’s Bazar) and Md. Muhin (Mohana) (Rajshahi)

Sports, Arts & Culture: Afaida Khondokar (Satkhira)and Uchai Mong Marma (Dhungri Headman, Bandarban).

The awards were presented under the Youth Welfare Fund Act, 2016, which recognizes social contributions by young citizens.

On Sunday, Youth and Sports Ministry Secretary Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam announced the names of the awardees at a press conference at the Secretariat.
