Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus today urged everyone to stay vigilant to protect communal harmony in the country.

He made this appeal on Friday (15 August) in a message marking Janmashtami, one of the major religious festivals of the Hindu community.

Offering heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all Hindus in the country, the Chief Adviser said that the interim government, formed through the historic people’s uprising by students, workers, and citizens, is dedicated to maintaining the bond of communal harmony.

He said, “The birthday of Lord Krishna, ‘Shubho Janmashtami,’ is one of the most significant religious festivals for the Hindu community. Throughout his life, Lord Krishna promoted justice, love for humanity, and peace to ensure equality and harmony in society. Whenever he witnessed injustice, he appeared to protect goodness from evil.”

“Communal harmony is a distinctive feature of our culture. For generations, the people of this country have preserved this harmony while practicing their respective religions. The ideals and teachings of Lord Krishna will further strengthen the bonds of friendship and brotherhood,” Dr. Yunus added.

In his message, he urged everyone to unite in building a new Bangladesh that is rooted in communal harmony and free from discrimination.
