A special government delegation visited the Shada Pathor (White Stone) area in Sylhet on Friday to inspect the site amid concerns over widespread looting. The delegation was led by Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Mokhlesur Rahman.

Sylhet’s Divisional Commissioner and the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner also accompanied the team during the visit.

After the inspection, Senior Secretary Rahman told reporters that the incident was not just simple looting but a large-scale plundering of the white stones. He added that the Shada Pathor tourist spot would soon be placed under 24-hour CCTV surveillance to prevent further incidents.

Rahman also warned that anyone found involved in the looting—regardless of political affiliation or administrative position—would be held accountable under the law.

Newly appointed Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Sarwar Alam echoed this stance, stating firmly that no one would be spared in connection with the white stone looting.
