State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed has said that no political cases based on revenge or harassment will be filed in the country, adding that the government is committed to ensuring inclusive governance for all citizens.

Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of a canal re-excavation programme in Saltha upazila of Faridpur-2 constituency on Saturday afternoon (April 25), she said the BNP-led government represents all 170 million people of Bangladesh, regardless of party affiliation.

“We do not look at who voted for us and who did not. We will not see which party anyone belongs to. We want to serve everyone, without discrimination,” she said.

Shama Obaed added that post-election cases filed at police stations are mainly related to internal clashes rather than political targeting. “There are no longer any political cases based on revenge in this country,” she said.

Referring to recent incidents of violence in Saltha, she warned against attacks on law enforcement. “Police are working for public safety. If anyone attacks police or their vehicles in the name of political influence, we will not tolerate it. Strict action will be taken,” she said.

She further stated that law enforcement agencies would take action against anyone involved in violence, regardless of political identity, and “no one will be spared.”

The minister also noted that agricultural development had been neglected for years, particularly in water resource management. She said the government has now undertaken a large-scale plan to re-excavate canals and restore waterways.

Gradual development projects will also cover roads, culverts, and bridges, she added.

The event was chaired by Saltha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Dabir Uddin and attended by Assistant Superintendent of Police Mahmudul Hasan, Saltha Police Station OC Bablur Rahman Khan, and local BNP leaders.
