No political person can hold Press Club committee position: Sarjis Alam
No political party office-holder will be able to hold any position of the National Press Club committee, starting from the president, secretary, or executive committee members, said Sarjis Alam, Chief Coordinator of the northern region of National Citizen Party (NCP).
He made this comment in a post on his verified Facebook page on Saturday (November 15).
In the post, Sarjis Alam wrote: "No political party office-holder will be able to be in any position of the press club, starting from the president, secretary, or executive committee members. The central and district-level press club committees should be on this condition."
The NCP leader said: "Otherwise, an example of partisan journalism or misinformation will be set in the name of journalism."
Mentioning that amateur, partisan, flattering, so-called journalists will be the cause of disrespect for real professional journalists, he also said: "Those who feel comfortable introducing themselves as leaders of a particular party before introducing themselves as journalists - they cannot represent journalists in any way."
