The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed that there has been no increase in radiation levels at Iranian nuclear sites following recent US airstrikes, reports BBC.

The UN nuclear watchdog stated on Sunday (June 22) that radiation levels outside the affected facilities remained normal.

According to the BBC, the strikes targeted three nuclear sites in Iran – Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Iranian officials reported explosions near the Natanz and Isfahan facilities, but no damage to the reactors was confirmed.

The IAEA said it would continue to monitor the situation and provide a fuller assessment as more information becomes available.

The strikes follow a wave of regional escalation. Iranian state media reported that long-range missiles were used in attacks on several Israeli sites, including Ben Gurion International Airport, military command centres, and a biological research facility. The attacks were reportedly carried out by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA), said 11 people were injured in missile strikes across the country. Rocket fire was reported in several locations including Tel Aviv, Haifa, Carmel, and northern Israel. Most of the country has been placed on high alert.

Former US President Donald Trump confirmed on his Truth Social platform that the US had carried out a "successful attack" on the three Iranian nuclear sites.
