No risk of law and order deterioration ahead of polls: Home Adviser
Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that there is no threat of law and order deterioration before the upcoming elections.
He made the remarks at a briefing after a core committee meeting on law and order at the secretariat's meeting room on Sunday (November 23).
"The situation has steadily improved over the past 18 months, though protests and rallies will increase as elections approach," he said.
On earthquake preparedness, he admitted Bangladesh lacks early warning systems but noted that authorities are reviewing technologies used elsewhere to provide alerts.
He also stressed adherence to building codes, warning that construction over filled water bodies increases risk during earthquakes.
Regarding a journalist being summoned by DB authorities at midnight, he clarified the issue was unrelated to journalistic duties and involved another type of activity.
