The National Citizen Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam has said the July Charter must be issued by the Chief Adviser, leaving no scope for any “note of dissent.”

He also expressed hope that the charter’s implementation would pave the way for the upcoming national election.

Speaking at the launch of the University Teachers Forum (UTF) at Bangla Academy on Friday (November 7), Nahid stressed that comprehensive reform in the education sector is essential to bring structural change to the state and to address unemployment.

He praised the contribution of teachers during the July uprising, saying, "Their role will be remembered with respect."

NCP convener also criticised the previous 16 years of politically influenced promotions in academia, calling it a remnant of fascist governance.

He added that despite the interim government’s shortcomings in reforming education, the NCP will continue its struggle for fundamental change.
