National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman has said that no one has discussed the issue of a humanitarian corridor with Bangladesh regarding Rakhine, and there will be no such discussions in the future.

He explained, “A corridor is meant for evacuating people from disaster-affected areas during emergencies. We are not relocating anyone here.”

He made these remarks at a press conference held on Wednesday (May 21) at the Foreign Service Academy.

Dr. Khalilur Rahman said, “What we are doing is this: since no aid is reaching Rakhine, the United Nations has only asked us to help deliver aid just across our border. The UN and its partners will take the aid inside Rakhine. Let me state clearly—we have not talked to anyone about a corridor, and we will not.”

He added, “Given the situation in Arakan, there is no need for a corridor. There is no requirement for people to move in and out through a corridor.”

On the topic of Rohingya repatriation, the National Security Advisor said, “As long as the situation in Arakan remains unstable, we cannot even talk about repatriation. And if we can't talk about repatriation, then there’s no point in discussing strategies for it either.”

He concluded by saying, “Some people are saying that we are discussing a corridor. I would say—how can we talk about something that doesn’t even exist?”
