No trace of missing student after 35 days, madrasa teacher accused of abduction
A Class VIII madrasa student has been missing for 35 days in Harinakundu upazila, Jhenaidah, with no trace of her found yet. The student's father has filed a case against madrasa teacher Ikramul Islam and two others on charges of abduction.
According to the case filing and family sources, teacher Ikramul Islam of Shitali Rokeya Khatun Madrasa had been harassing the girl and proposing love to her for a long time. On June 5, the girl left home in the morning saying she was going to a friend's house. When she did not return for a long time, family members began searching. Later, they learned from the friend's house that she had not gone there.
The family claimed that locals informed them that Ikramul Islam, with the help of accomplices, forcibly took the girl on a motorcycle from a road in Mandia village and headed towards Jhenaidah town.
The girl's father, Ukil Uddin, filed a case at Harinakundu Police Station on June 5 against Ikramul Islam and two unidentified individuals. However, 35 days later, there is still no trace of the girl.
The accused teacher, Ikramul Islam, is a resident of Sarutia village in Keshabpur upazila, Jashore. He had been teaching at Shitali Rokeya Khatun Madrasa for a long time. His mobile phone has been switched off.
Madrasa director Mufti Burhan Uddin declined to comment on the matter.
The investigating officer, Harinakundu Police Station Sub-Inspector Fazlul Haque Zahid, said operations have been conducted at various possible locations, including the accused teacher's home in Keshabpur, Jashore. However, tracing his location has been difficult as his mobile phone remains switched off. He expressed hope that the girl would be rescued soon.
Harinakundu Police Station OC (Investigation) Asit Kumar Roy said a case has been filed and police operations to rescue the missing student are ongoing, but she has not yet been found.
