No transfers, only dismissal for negligence and corruption: Health Minister
Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain has said the government is taking a firm stance against neglect and corruption in the health sector. Wherever allegations of negligence and corruption are found, the response will not be a transfer but direct dismissal.
The minister made the remarks as the chief guest at the 31st annual general meeting of the Narsingdi Diabetic Association at the Narsingdi Children's Academy auditorium on Saturday afternoon, July 4.
"Where there is negligence and corruption, there will be dismissal. I do not believe in transfers. Work must be done with honesty. Corruption and bribery must be stopped. No leniency will be shown in this regard," the minister said.
He announced that 50-bed dialysis centres will be established in every medical college hospital across the country. Additionally, community clinics at the union level will be renovated and reorganised, with more doctors and health workers to be appointed.
The health minister said the quality of services at family planning centres will also be improved. The government is launching new programmes this year to initiate major changes in the health sector.
He further said this year's budget is a budget of ideals. Through its corruption-free implementation, development for the people will be ensured.
The event was presided over by Deputy Commissioner and Narsingdi Diabetic Association President Israt Jahan Kair. Narsingdi Sadar constituency MP Khairul Kabir Khokon inaugurated the programme.
MPs Manjur Elahi (Narsingdi-3), Ashraf Uddin Bakul (Narsingdi-5), Zila Parishad Administrator Tofazzal Hossain, and other local dignitaries were present.
