None of Inqilab Mancha have bullet injuries: DMCH authorities
Dhaka Medical College Hospital authorities have said that none of the members of the Inqilab Mancha who came to seek treatment after being injured in a clash with the police, were shot.
At the same time, it has been reported that none of the injured had serious injuries that require hospitalization.
On Friday (February 6) night, Dhaka Medical College Hospital Director Brigadier General Md. Asaduzzaman confirmed these information.
He said that none of the people who came for treatment were found to have been shot. Some of those who came suffered problems due to the effects of tear gas, while others suffered muscle injuries due to being hit by batons. A couple of people had cuts on their bodies. However, none of their injuries were serious enough to require hospitalization.
Earlier, claims spread on social media that Abdullah Al Jaber, the member secretary of the Inqilab Mancha, had been shot. However, in addition to the hospital authorities' statement on this matter, the interim government and the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) also stated that no firearms were used to disperse the protest.
Inspector Md. Faruk, in-charge of the police outpost at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said that Abdullah Al Jaber had a bruise on his left knee. Several others have received treatment for similar injuries. In total, 22 to 23 injured people came to the hospital for treatment.
Among those receiving treatment are Fatima Tasnim Juma, spokesperson of the Dhaka University unit of Inqilab Mancha and DUCSU's Liberation War Affairs Secretary, and Salauddin Ammar, General Secretary of RUCSU.
In addition, Monir, Faisal, Joy, Julkar, Mosharraf, Niloy, Anik, Umar, Rahat, Russell, Ahad, Mahin, Azad, Shamim, Sohel, Shaon, Javed and Shamim, along with several others, received treatment in the emergency department, according to the police.
Hospital authorities said the injured were discharged after receiving first aid and many have left the hospital after treatment.
