The Meteorological Department has issued a nor'wester warning in five divisions of the country, including the capital Dhaka. The department's Storm Warning Center gave this information in a message signed by meteorologist Dr. Md. Omar Faruk on Thursday. The message said that from 8am today, isolated nor'wester with gusty winds of 60 to 80 kilometers per hour or more may blow over Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions from the west or northwest. There is also a risk of lightning and isolated hailstorms during this time.

রাজধানী ঢাকাসহ দেশের পাঁচ বিভাগে কালবৈশাখি ঝড়ের সতর্কবার্তা দিয়েছে আবহাওয়া অধিদপ্তর। আজ বৃহস্পতিবার আবহাওয়াবিদ ড. মো. ওমর ফারুক স্বাক্ষরিত এক বার্তায় অধিদপ্তরের ঝড় সতর্কীকরণ কেন্দ্র এ তথ্য জানিয়েছে। বার্তায় বলা হয়, আজ সকাল ৮টা থেকে পরবর্তী ১২ ঘণ্টার মধ্যে ঢাকা, খুলনা, বরিশাল, চট্টগ্রাম ও সিলেট বিভাগের ওপর দিয়ে বিচ্ছিন্নভাবে পশ্চিম বা উত্তর-পশ্চিম দিক থেকে ঘণ্টায় ৬০ থেকে ৮০ কিলোমিটার বা তার বেশি বেগে ঝড়ো হাওয়াসহ কালবৈশাখি ঝড় বয়ে যেতে পারে। এ সময় বজ্রপাত ও বিচ্ছিন্নভাবে শিলাবৃষ্টিরও আশঙ্কা রয়েছে।
