Nor’westers likely to sweep 5 divisions

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a warning of severe Kalbaishakhi (nor’wester) storms affecting four divisions across the country.

According to the latest update, three separate intense storm systems are currently passing over the Rangpur Division at 12:20pm on Sunday (April 26).

Meteorological observations indicate that at least four strong storm cells may move across the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions by 10pm tonight.

At present, Rangpur Division is experiencing the active impact of three storm systems. The first storm is sweeping across Rangpur, Gaibandha, Kurigram, and Lalmonirhat districts. The second has hit Rangpur, Dinajpur, and Nilphamari, while the third is moving through Dinajpur and Thakurgaon.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as these seasonal storms may bring gusty winds, lightning, and temporary disruptions in several northern and northeastern districts.
