Not only salaries, bonus also have been given to all workers: Labour Minister
Not only the salary of the workers, but also 100 percent bonus has been given to the workers before Eid-ul-Fitr, said Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Minister of Labour, Employment, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment.
He said that the government has provided about Tk2500 crore for the payment of the salary allowance of the workers. Therefore, this time, compared to all other years, the workers have received their salary allowance before Eid. "Not only the salary of the workers, we have completed the bonus. This has been possible because of the goodwill of the government."
The Minister said that this time, the elected public representatives were also on the side of the workers, due to which, for the first time in Bangladesh, there was no worker dissatisfaction before Eid.
The government will start working after Eid to reopen all the factories in the country that were closed in the past, he added.
Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury said these things in response to questions from journalists after visiting the Shahi Eidgah Maidan in Sylhet city on Thursday (March 19).
Referring to the current government as being worker-friendly, Ariful Haque Chowdhury said, the government is working not only for the workers of the country but also for all Bangladeshi workers abroad. For this, the government has been by their side for the welfare of the expatriates since the beginning of the unrest in the Middle East.
Referring to the relief during this Eid journey, he said, people were able to return home with relief this time because of the sincere cooperation of the government, administration, transport workers and owners.
The minister said that taking advantage of the war in the Middle East, some miscreants, even Bangladeshis, are taking the expatriates hostage and calling their relatives in the country to ask for money, the authorities have unearthed their roots. The families of the expatriates are also being warned about this.
He said: "In addition to opening the closed labour market, we are also working to make the workers skilled. Language education and training will be provided to the workers who want to go abroad next month. The government will try to fulfill the demand so that there is no trouble."
He said that many people are in danger through brokers, the government is also taking steps to stop them.
Like every year, the main Eid congregation will be held at 8:30 am at the Shahi Eidgah in Sylhet city. Former mayor of Sylhet City Corporation (CCIC) Ariful Haque Chowdhury went to the Shahi Eidgah to see the preparations for it.
