Note reading 'Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu' left in front of Jubo Dal leader's house
Allegations have been raised that a shroud cloth, incense sticks and rose water were left in front of the main gate of the house of a Jubo Dal leader in Amdia union of Narsingdi Sadar upazila. At the same time, the leader claimed a note reading 'Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu' was found there.
These items were found in front of the house of Mobarak Hossain, a resident of Bonaid village in Amdia union and organising secretary of the union Jubo Dal, on Thursday night, October 8. Upon receiving the news, police went to the scene around 10pm, recovered the evidence and took it to the police station. Officer-in-Charge of Madhabdi Police Station Mohammad Kamal Hossain confirmed the incident.
Mobarak Hossain said he was in Dhaka for business work. When he was informed over the phone from home about the incident, he returned quickly. Later, local party leaders as well as police were informed. When police came and opened a shopping bag, a white shroud cloth, rose water, incense sticks and a note reading 'Joy Bangabandhu' were found inside.
Mobarak Hossain claimed that the note contained abuse directed at him, as well as a threat not to become a candidate against Awami League-backed candidate Mosharraf Member in Ward No. 3 in the upcoming Union Parishad election. He also claimed he was threatened with death if he told anyone about the matter.
Mobarak Hossain said he filed a complaint with Madhabdi Police Station over the incident, adding that he has been feeling insecure since the incident. He said he does not know who did this. He demanded a proper investigation into the incident as well as his own security.
After the incident, a crowd of local people and party leaders and activists was seen at Mobarak Hossain's house. Amdia union BNP General Secretary Ainul Haque Mia said it is necessary to investigate who threatened Mobarak Hossain with death through the note. He demanded the arrest and punishment of those involved.
Officer-in-Charge of Madhabdi Police Station Mohammad Kamal Hossain said police were sent to Mobarak Hossain's house immediately after receiving the news. The evidence found there has been taken to the police station. Legal action will be taken after investigating based on the complaint.
