Nur congratulates winners of DUCSU, hall parliament elections
Former Vice President of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) and President of the Gono Odhikar Parishad, Nurul Haque Nur, has extended his congratulations to the newly elected representatives of DUCSU and Hall Parliament.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday afternoon (September 10), Nur praised the Dhaka University administration for conducting a vibrant, participatory, and successful election despite facing significant challenges.
He lauded their "patience, strategy, and skill" in ensuring a smooth democratic process on campus.
Nur expressed hope that the new student leadership will uphold the spirit of the July Uprising and initiate a new era in campus politics.
He emphasized the need for a student movement that remains independent of national political interference and is focused on student welfare and national progress.
"Student politics must be free from the black clutches of national politics," Nur wrote, envisioning the university campus as a sanctuary for education, culture, friendship, and democratic practice.
He also urged the university administration and student leaders to institutionalize the DUCSU and Hall Parliament elections by making them annual events aligned with the academic calendar.
