'Nur suffers short-term memory loss'

Nurul Haque Nur, president of Gono Odhikar Parishad, is reportedly losing short-term memory and remains in a critical condition at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, party officials said on Monday (September 6).

Party General Secretary Md. Rashed Khan, who visited Nur, said the leader’s condition has not improved despite prior government assurances to send him abroad for advanced treatment.

He alleged that a group is deliberately delaying the transfer to prevent Nur from receiving proper care.

“Nur is unable to complete sentences, forgets whether he has taken his medication, cannot eat solid food, stand, or maintain balance. His jaw and nose bones are broken, and he remains in a very delicate condition,” Rashed Khan told reporters.

He added that Nur’s health complications stem from serious injuries sustained earlier, and expressed concern over what he described as targeted attacks on popular leaders involved in the July mass uprising.

The party is urging the government to expedite Nur’s transfer abroad for urgent medical treatment.
