Nurul Haque Nur set to be appointed State Minister
Nurul Haque Nur, president of Gono Odhikar Parishad, former DUCSU VP and newly elected MP from Patuakhali-3, has been invited to take oath as a state minister.
The matter was confirmed by his party on Tuesday (February 17). He is likely to be assigned the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, according to party sources.
Nur contested the 13th National Parliament elections from Patuakhali-3 as a BNP alliance candidate and was elected with 73,934 votes on the “truck” symbol. His nearest rival, independent candidate and BNP leader Hasan Mamun, secured 47,950 votes with the “horse” symbol.
Nurul Haque Nur first gained national prominence during the quota reform movement under the previous Awami League government. He was later elected Vice President of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), defeating the Bangladesh Chhatra League-backed candidate.
