Nusrat Faria sent to jail in attempted murder case

Actress Nusrat Faria has been sent to jail in connection with attempted murder case of Enamul Haque, related to the July Movement in the Vatara Police Station area.

On Monday (May 19), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nasreen Akhtar ordered her imprisonment. Prior to the ruling, the investigation officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Md. Billal Bhuiyan from Vatara Police Station, requested that she be sent to jail. The defense lawyer filed a bail petition, which was opposed by the Public Prosecutor. After a hearing, the judge rejected the bail request and ordered her to be sent to jail. The judge also set May 22 as the date for the next bail hearing.

Earlier, on her way to Thailand, Nusrat Faria was arrested at the airport and officially charged by the police.

According to case sources, on July 19 last year, Enamul Haque participated in the July Movement in the Vatara area. He was shot by the accused, and the bullet hit his leg. Enamul was subsequently hospitalized in an unconscious state and received treatment. After recovering, he filed the case on May 3 this year.

Sheikh Hasina and 17 other artists are named in the case, which includes 283 individuals in total. Nusrat Faria is number 207 on the accused list. The case claims she was a financial contributor to the Awami League.
