After the statement ‘Police job is one kind of business’ went viral on social media, Netrokona’s Kalmakanda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abul Hashem has been withdrawn. In addition, a three-member investigation committee has been formed in the incident.

Netrokona Police Superintendent Md. Tariqul Islam said that, OC Md. Abul Hashem was withdrawn and added to the police lines on Sunday morning.

At the same time, a three-member investigation committee has been formed headed by Additional Police Superintendent of the District Police (DSB) Intelligence Branch Hafizul Islam. An investigation report has been asked to be submitted within the next five working days. Further necessary action will be taken based on the investigation report.

In the audio that went viral, Abul Hashem can be heard saying to the police officers of the police station, "Police work is a kind of business" on Saturday.

In addition, various comments are made on complaint resolution, financial transactions and internal coordination of the police station.

In the audio, he can be heard saying, "Police work is one kind of business. We will not cheat anyone. We will all live together. Suppose I spent two thousand taka, this money is not my house money, nor my salary money. You filed one complaint for one thousand taka, you dismissed another and gave me one thousand taka, but I passed with that. So I have no risk, no tension, I am very relaxed."

The OC said, "The police job is one kind of business. Not everyone is involved in this business. But we are keeping each other safe. Everyone has to work in coordination. But you cannot break the OC's head.

Above all, I will not cheat you, am I spending money from home, or am I running you by selling land or by law. May everyone be well. May everyone get what they deserve. May my constables get what they deserve, may they not be deprived. I do not like killing rights. Because the Prophet (PBUH) will not defend those who kill rights. This is the final word. No one will cheat. The current media is far ahead.’

The OC also said, ‘Currently, there is a word called “secret”, Tarique Zia (Prime Minister) is inventing this word. We understand that you are trying to remain secret. The case did not happen that day, money was taken from here. Many people were coming to me to know about taking money. But I do not know anything. Even then, I explained various things to them and made them run away. Those of us who are in the system, let us hang together. There is no need for much trickery. We will not put ourselves in danger or cheat anyone. Another thing is that in some cases, the charge sheet is everywhere, the final is everywhere, the OC did not know anything! Hey brother, you yourself have opened a police station. There is an OC in the police station, you will coordinate with him. If you do it at nine, you will be caught at ten. Then there is news.’

However, the authenticity of the viral audio has not yet been confirmed. OC Md. Abul Hashem has claimed that the viral statement is not his. Moreover, senior police officials also say that it is not possible to say about the authenticity of the matter before the investigation.
