Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station, Mohammad Mozaffar Hossain, has been withdrawn over allegations of expressing political alignment on social media.

On Tuesday (September 9) night, he was attached to the Police Lines, with Nasirnagar Police Station’s OC Azharul Islam appointed as his replacement the same day.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Brahmanbaria Sadar Circle, MM Rokib Ur Reza, confirmed the matter.

It has been learned that OC Mozaffar faced criticism after posting on Facebook wishing success to the BNP’s panel in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election.

However, since the incident, OC Mozammofar has claimed that his Facebook account was “hacked.”

Late on Monday night, he posted a photo card on his Facebook profile with the numbers 21, 17, and 08, captioned “Best wishes for the meritorious.” These numbers corresponded to the BNP panel’s Vice President, General Secretary, and Assistant General Secretary candidates.

According to law, government employees are strictly prohibited from engaging in political activities or expressing open support. The post sparked widespread criticism on social media and was also reported in various media outlets.

As criticism mounted, OC Mozaffar informed his superiors that his account had been hacked and filed a General Diary (GD) at the police station. The following night, on Tuesday, he was officially withdrawn from Sadar Model Police Station and attached to the Brahmanbaria Police Lines.
