After a week-long Eid-ul-Azha holiday, government and private offices, courts, banks, insurance companies and the capital market resumed operations across the country on Monday (June 1), bringing the country back to its regular work schedule.

The government had declared a seven-day holiday from May 25 to May 31 to mark the Eid-ul-Azha celebrations. With the extended break now over, millions of employees have returned to their workplaces as economic and administrative activities resume nationwide.

However, essential services remained operational throughout the holiday period.

Personnel involved in electricity, gas, water and other fuel supplies, as well as members of the fire service, sanitation workers, telecommunications and internet service providers, postal services and emergency response teams continued their duties uninterrupted.

Hospitals and emergency healthcare services also remained open during the Eid vacation, while vehicles and workers responsible for transporting medicines and medical equipment maintained regular operations to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services.

Banking activities resumed under normal schedules on Monday, with customer transactions taking place from 10:00 am to 3:00pm, while bank branches will remain open until 5:00pm. Insurance companies have also returned to regular business hours from 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Meanwhile, trading activities at the country’s two stock exchanges—the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)—have resumed. Market transactions will continue from 10:00am to 2:30pm, while office operations will run from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
