Oil tanker again catches fire in Chattogram, 1 killed
Five days after the explosion in Bangla's Jyoti oil tanker, fire has erupted at another oil tanker owned by Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, MV Banglar Sourav, killing at least one person.
The incident took place in the middle of the sea near Patenga beach area on Friday (October 4) midnight.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Shakib Mehbub confirmed this information to the media.
He said, “While bringing oil from the outer anchorage, the fire occurred at Banglar Sourav around 12:50 pm. Later, the fire was brought under control around 2.30 am with the help of Coast Guard, Navy, and Chittagong Port Authority. There were 48 sailors on the ship. All of them were rescued safely. However, one of them was taken to the hospital and declared dead by the doctor on duty.
Earlier on September 30, there was an explosion at Banglar Jyoti owned by BSC.
